Easter is the greatest Christian holiday. It celebrates the resurrection of Jesus which happened on Easter Sunday, but the preparations for the celebration start much earlier. While some focus on the last week only, many believe we should start preparing forty days before.

Countdown to Lenten!

Introduce your kids to the concept of Lent and Lenten with a colorful calendar featuring forty colorful Easter eggs. Why 40? There are several possibilities to explain this, but most will be satisfied with the number of days between Mardi Gras and Easter. Forty days are meant for fasting and during this time eggs are traditionally saved and decorated for Easter. The Lenten countdown calendar is actually your printable Easter countdown.

Countdown Calendars to Easter with 30 Days

There are several ways to count down the days until Easter and each one of them has a reasonable explanation. Still, 30-day countdowns are the most popular. We prepared three of them. Maybe we’ll add more later, so don’t hesitate to bookmark this page.

Let’s start with Easter lilies, a classic choice for Easter decor. Their lovely white blooms symbolize grace, purity, and new life, which makes them a perfect choice to represent the resurrection of Christ or the start of a new life in Spring.

Another popular symbol of eternal life cycles is an egg. Here we go with a hen and thirty eggs, one for each day until Easter. This simple printable Easter countdown calendar gives kids a nice opportunity to actively participate in counting, simple math operations, and coloring. Parents, of course, can use such a printable to introduce numerous themes for a debate.

Of course, eggs are associated with chicken. Here is a hen, this time in color, taking care of thirty little chicks! She seems to have some trouble counting. Will you help her?

Is 30 days too much? 15-day Easter countdown calendars are popular as well.

Advent Calendar for Easter Day

A selection of vintage Easter cards can serve as a countdown calendar, but most people use it as a lovely Easter decor. We used images created by renowned postcard artists: Frances Brundage, Ellen Clapsaddle, Jenny Nystrom, Samuel Schmucker, and Georg Stoopendaal. More of their work (and other artists’) is available in our article about antique Easter postcards.

For more activity, we prepared a cute printable Easter Advent calendar with two bunnies painting Easter eggs.

Let your inner artist out with Easter bunnies and fifteen eggs to color!

Printable Holy Week Calendars

We can focus on the Holy Week only. In 2025 it starts on April 13 (Palm Sunday) and ends on April 19, one day before Easter. This means Holy Week calendars usually feature eight days, although Easter Sunday is officially not a part of it.

Kids will love this one with Easter Bunny and a basket of eggs. Look, some of the eggs just hatched!

Such a printable makes a great addition to Easter decor in children’s rooms. We prepared a special treat for adults, too!

This Passion Week calendar is made of reproductions of paintings of some of the greatest artists in history. Each day is represented with one image. Print it and enjoy. And tell your friends:)

Happy Easter!
